Pursuant to a request made by you,
I have conferred with Tax Commissioner Henry F. Long in
relation to the approval by him of proposed transfers
from Excess and Deficiency.
Commissioner Long assured me
that H lf proper votes were taken by the Board of Aldermen
and the request is seasonably made by the Board of
Assessors 11 , he will approve the following transfers:
From Excess and Deficiency to
Sanitary Department, the sum of $33*000. The Commission
er Is not concerned with the question of utilization of
this money. It may be appropriated to Labor and, or
Ordinary Maintenance in any amounts satisfactory to
the Board of Aldermen and the Mayor.
From Excess and Deficiency to
Board of Health, $17,500.
From Excess and Deficiency to
Highway Department, $^,000. Here the Commissioner indicated
that his approval will be given to a transfer
for the purchase of snow removal equipment.

mlssloner will approve upon transmittal of the request
by the Assessors to him, total
The Commissioner indicated that
at a. later date, if necessity arose, he would be inclined
to grant approval for additional funds.
