Pursuant to a request made by you,<br />

I have conferred with Tax Commissioner Henry F. Long in<br />

relation to the approval by him <strong>of</strong> proposed transfers<br />

from Excess and Deficiency.<br />

Commissioner Long assured me<br />

that H lf proper votes were taken by the Board <strong>of</strong> Aldermen<br />

and the request is seasonably made by the Board <strong>of</strong><br />

Assessors 11 , he will approve the following transfers:<br />

From Excess and Deficiency to<br />

Sanitary Department, the sum <strong>of</strong> $33*000. The Commission<br />

er Is not concerned with the question <strong>of</strong> utilization <strong>of</strong><br />

this money. It may be appropriated to Labor and, or<br />

Ordinary Maintenance in any amounts satisfactory to<br />

the Board <strong>of</strong> Aldermen and the Mayor.<br />

From Excess and Deficiency to<br />

Board <strong>of</strong> Health, $17,500.<br />

From Excess and Deficiency to<br />

Highway Department, $^,000. Here the Commissioner indicated<br />

that his approval will be given to a transfer<br />

for the purchase <strong>of</strong> snow removal equipment.<br />

The above items which the Com- .<br />

mlssloner will approve upon transmittal <strong>of</strong> the request<br />

by the Assessors to him, total<br />

The Commissioner indicated that<br />

at a. later date, if necessity arose, he would be inclined<br />

to grant approval for additional funds.<br />
