COMMUNICATION FROM HIS HONOR THE MAYOR Communi; Received the following, • Ration The Honorable, The Board of Aldermen Somerville, Massachusetts Gentlemen; City of somerville 7553 1 *- Office of the Mayor October 11, 19^8 I have repeatedly called to your attention the vital need of a transfer of funds to care for fuel needs In the school buildings. Your Board cut this item in the adoption of the annual budget. The school system cannot function unless these funds are made available. J_respectfully request that your Honorable body ^ake_immedlate action on my previous request for transfer, of^funds to the School Buildings, Ordinary Maintenance, for Fuel and Light._ This item was Section Fifteened about ten "days ago by Alderman Whitney. You have before you, also, a request for an appropriation to the Sanitary Department fo'r Ordinary Maintenance*. You have failed to take action on this matter ter~date and I must inform you that, should the money not be made available, it is impossible to maintain the sched«ule of rubbish removal from the streets of the city. I am sure that a majority of the Board of Aldermen do not wish to see this disgraceful condition come to pass so I, therefore, respectfully request immediate action on this matter.
