Dear Dr. Kurd and Gentlemen;
Broadway is a main thoroughfare
in the City of Somerville, used daily by thousands of motor
vehicles.
The way is in a deplorable condition because of
the abnormal winter and must be put in a condition safe
for use. The Highway Department must expend considerable
time and expense repairing this way, and this is not always
satisfactory*
The City now has an opportunity to resurface the
entire length of Broadway, at one fourth_o~f_the_cpVt_t It
is good business to take "advantage "of Jthe offer of~ the
State to" contribute one-half the c'ost, and the County of
Middlesex one-fourth of the cost.
However, the City of Somerville is no longer in
position to delay action in this Important matter. We
must inform the State and County, without farther delay,
whether or not the City desires to have Broadway resurfaced
this year.
Therefore, I strongly urge your Honorable Board

Special Item, to cover the City of Somerville f s contribu-
tion toward the resurfacing of Broadway from the Somerville-
Charlestown line to the Somervllle-Arlington line at the
Intersection of Broadway and Mystic Valley Parkway. This
•work is to be done under Chapter 90. The City of Somer-
ville contributes 25% of the cost, the county of Middlesex
