Gentlemen:

The Somerville school teachers and other personnel
of the ^School Department, some time ago instituted suit_
against the C'ity of Somerville to "recover back pay^for the
particular individuals involved at the rate of seventy-five
(&75.00) 'for each individual, covering the months of October,
November and December, 1946.
To avoid a multiplicity of suits and expense, each
individual involved made an assignment, in writing, to
Frances Blute, a teacher in the Pope School.
Frances BJute thereupon brought a suit against.the
