Resolution WHEREAS: "74665 the Committee on Public-Health of the State Legislature is at present considering House Bill #1748, the so-called Birth Control_.BijJlf and WHEREAS: the acceptance of such an unsound measure would amend our present Statutes which have satis- factorily safeguarded and guaranteed the morals of the general public and our normal family life since their enactment in 1879, and WHEREAS: such unethical and unessential legislation as proposed, is contrary to God's Laws and Nature's Laws, would seriously threaten our noblest and finest sense of morality, and would Imperil the very sanctity of our Homes "the Bulwark of our Nation", and WHEREAS: the citizens of our City enphatlcally asserted their opposition to such legislation by an over- whelming rejection at the Ballot-box when similar Birth Control legislation was proposed in 1942 by Initiative Petition, after the measure had been defeated by both the House and Senate of the General Court, be it RESOLVED: that we, the members of the Board of Aldermen for these reasons, and fully sustaining the will of the people of our City, unhesitatingly register our_ most strenuous objections and opposition to the enactment -180-
