Aha, pojawia
się jeszcze angielski Santa Claus.
Program rozpoczyna się od nastrojowej piosenki
świątecznej Mistletoe and wine w wykonaniu
Cliffa Richarda.
Mistletoe and wine
The child is a king the Carollers sing,
The old is passed there’s a new beginning.
Dreams of Santa, dreams of snow,
Fingers numb, faces aglow.
Christmas time, mistletoe and wine,
Children singing Christmas rhyme
With logs on the fire and gifts on the tree
Time for rejoicing in all that we see.
A time for living a time for believing
A time for trusting, not deceiving.
Love and laughter and joy ever after
As for the taking just follow the Master.
Christmas time, mistletoe and wine
Children singing Christmas rhyme
With logs on the fire and gifts on the tree
Time for rejoicing in all that we see
It’s a time for giving, a time for getting
A time for forgiving and for forgetting
Christmas is love, Christmas is peace
And time for heading and fighting to see
Narrator: It is our pleasure to welcome you
all to our Christmas party. Just like in British and
American schools we want to spend this special
time together, singing Christmas songs and carols,
reading the Bible in English and having a lot
of fun playing games and quizzes. We invite you
all to sing along. Have a good time and be nice
so we might have a special guest.
We want to start with traditional Christmas carols,
some of them are quite international, sung
in christian churches all over the world, not only
catholic ones. Silent night, holy night is a German
carol but it is very popular in our country as well.
This English version is very, very beautiful, Boney
M have made it so well.
Silent night
1. Silent night holy night
All is calm all is bright
Round you Virgin Mother and child
Holy infant so tender and mild
Sleep in heavenly peace /2
2. Silent night holy night
She perds quake at the sight
Glories stream from heaven afar
Heavenly hosts sing alleluya
Christ the saviour is born /2
3. Silent night holy night
Son of God love’s pure light
Radiant beams from thy holy face
With the dawn of redeeming grace
Jesus Lord at thy birth /2
Narrator: It is our Polish tradition to read the Bible
on Christmas Eve, the passage which shows the
birth of Jesus Christ. Let’s listen to it in English.
The Birth of Jesus
In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree
that a census should be taken of the entire Roman
world. This was the first census that took place
while Quirinius was governor of Syria. And everyone
went to his town to register.
So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth
in Galilee to Judea, to Bethelehem the
town of David, because he belonged to the house
and line of David. He went there to register with
Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and
was expecting a child. While they were there, the
time came for the baby to be born, and she gave
birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him
in clothes and placed him in a manger, because
there was no room for them in the inn.
Narrator: We seem to know, remember quite
a few Christmas carols in English because their
melody seems familiar. They are often in the
soundtrack of American or English movies. The
