iSCSI (Internet SCSI) CommandsNote: We support 10 Mb, 100 Mb, and 1000 Mb Gigabit Ethernet (GigE)interfaces, but the storage system supports only 1000 Mb. If your NICdoes not run GigE, then you need to connect to the storage system usinga GigE router or switch.◆◆◆You have cabled the storage system properly (refer to the setupguide that shipped with the storage system). You have installed the Navisphere Utilities on each server withaccess to data on the storage system (refer to the setup guide). You have installed PowerPath software on the servers formulti-pathing (refer to the setup guide).◆ You have set the network parameters and security for the SPmanagement ports on the storage system. The iSCSI interface uses CHAP (Challenge HandshakeAuthentication Protocol) to protect the storage system’s iSCSI portsfrom unwanted access. CHAP is optional, but if your storage systemmight be accessed from a public IP network, we strongly recommendthat you use CHAP security.CHAP is a method for authenticating iSCSI users (initiators andtargets). The iSCSI storage system can use CHAP to authenticateserver initiators and initiators can authenticate targets such as thestorage system. To use CHAP security, you must configure CHAPcredentials for the storage system iSCSI ports and any servers thatwill access the storage-system data.Note: If you will be using CHAP security, we strongly recommend that youconfigure it on both the storage system and the server before initiating serverI/O.Figure 6 illustrates an iSCSI storage system in a storage domain withvarious servers and illustrates how iSCSI storage systems differ fromFibre Channel storage systems.366 EMC Navisphere Command Line Interface (CLI) Reference
