Basic <strong>Command</strong>salpa -set (CX series only)Updates the SCSI ID associated with an SP portDescription!The naviseccli or navicli alpa command with the -set switch updatesthe SCSI ID value for the given port on an SP.CAUTIONThe SP port ID SCSI IDs are initially set by EMC service personnelto work at your site. Do not change any value unless you areinstalling a new SP and need to change its SCSI IDs from the SPship values of 0 and 1.If you change any value, after you confirm, the SP will restart anduse the new values.The software will not let you select a SCSI ID out of range (0-126) or aduplicate ID on a storage system. — If you omit the -o (override)switch, then the <strong>CLI</strong> prompts for confirmation:Changing the ALPA value of port port-id from old-SCSI-IDto new-SCSI-ID (y/n)To confirm, answer y; to take no action, answer n.SyntaxPrerequisitesOptionsalpa -set is used with naviseccli (described on page 37) or navicli(described on page 45) as follows:alpa -set -sp a | b -portid portid SCSI-ID [-o]For naviseccli, you must have a user account on the storage systemon which you want to execute the command.For navicli, you must have a user entry in the <strong>Navisphere</strong> agentconfiguration file.-sp a | bSpecifies the SP: A or B.-portid portid SCSI-IDSpecifies the new SCSI ID to associate with the port.
