iSCSI (Internet SCSI) <strong>Command</strong>sisns -setprimaryDescriptionSets a configured iSNS server, as the primary server for a storagesystem’s iSNS service configurationThe naviseccli isns command with the -setprimary function,establishes a configured iSNS server as the primary server in astorage system’s iSNS service configuration. The primary server isthe server the iSNS service actively communicates with. You can onlyhave one primary server.Note: If the IP address of the server you specify to be the primary server isnot configured, you will receive an error message.You use this command when you want to change the primary serverin a storage system’s iSNS service configuration. You can also use thiscommand to re-establish a primary server after a failover. When afailure occurs which takes the existing primary server out of service,the iSNS service automatically establishes a backup server as the newprimary server. You can use the isns -setprimary command to restorethe original primary server as the primary server.Note: If you have more than one backup server, the first backup server listedbecomes the new primary server (see isns -listserver).SyntaxPrerequisitesOptionsisns -setprimary is used with naviseccli (described on page 37) asfollows:isns -setprimary IPAddr [-o]where:You must have a user account on the storage system on which youwant to execute the command.IPAddrThe IP address of the iSNS server you want to designate as theprimary server.Note: You must identify the iSNS server by the server’s IP address.Specify the IP address in the form b.c.d.e where b, c, d and e range from 0through 255.
