Il primo cane guaiva tra le tende degli uomini
guardando nell’occhio fisso dei lupi una preistoria
selvaggia
inconsapevole. Erano padre, madre,
qualcosa di perduto, foresta, nostalgia,
la lunga epoca muta alle sue spalle.
Quasi nemico, ormai, lacrima persa, libertà
rinunciata per una rischiosa alleanza.
The first dog whined through the curtains of man
looking at its prehistory in the staring eyes of wolves,
wild, unwitting. Behind it lay its mother, father,
something long lost, the forest, nostalgia,
that almost endless, voiceless time.
Almost an enemy by now, its tears wasted, its freedom
relinquished for a rather risky alliance.
