In camera
Segretamente
In this snapshot it’s always spring.
She and I look up, smiling
at someone or something now forgotten,
lying androgynously idle on the lawn
beside faded sandstone walls, our faces
bright in April sunlight.
Then memory jumps to a night
in May when in the dark room
of a kiss she and I blow
up the negative of this
idyll of an April day.
What gives another turn to the screw
is you, the invisible photographer,
who loved her then like a shooting star.
In questo scatto è sempre primavera.
io e lei alziamo gli occhi, sorridendo
a qualcuno o qualcosa ormai dimenticato,
