ABSTRACT
The present dissertation is place along a series of research efforts of the
Research Nucleus Margens – Modes of Life, Family and Gender
Relations. The specialized literature on men that commit rape in Brazil
is still nascent and not developed in comparison to other countries. The
lack of research and theories that account for these men also relates to
the lack of intervention with these men. This research’s objective was to
comprehend, based epistemologically on Freud-Lacanian
psychonalaysis and post-structuralist feminisms, utilizing the concepts
of enunciation and performativity to access the discourse presented by
the subjects when they report episodes of sexual violence. To attain this
objective eight semi-structured interviews with men convicted of rape,
violent attempt against pudency, pedophilia and corruption of a minor
were made inside the State Penintentiary of Florianópolis. The
interviews were fully transcribed and analyzed. From the initial eight
interviews five were analyzed in this dissertation while three were
discarded because they did not present the elements necessary to the
desired analysis. The five interviews were treted as separate case
studies, and listening to the subjects without the objective of
estabilishing a subjacent and universally applicable thery was
prioritized. The use of the coupling of feminist theories and
psychoanalysis proved to be useful tool for analyzing the subjects’
discourse by promoting a complexified, elaborate and detailed account
of the presented cases. It is necessary to establish a tradition on studies
on men that commit rapes in Brazil so that the social reality present in
the country can be better understood. The comprehension of the
performative masculinities produces by this culture is also important,
especially on how this culture promotes sexual violence.
Keywords: sexual violence, rape, performativity, enunciation.
