The Casa del Barolo has two souls, one in
the center and the other in the suburbs.
The first is a large, two-floor enoteca — 400
square meters of wines, liqueurs, spirits and
gastronomic delicacies — the second is a self-
styled “enotavola”, a wine and food shop. This
latter, in Via Perugia, is the soul we decided to set
out to discover. Here, adjacent to the warehouse,
a modern, well, lit and stylishly furnished point of
sale has been open since 2009. The bottles are
on display on the walls and there are also shelves
dedicated to tea, artisan pasta, oil, preserves and
other treats too many to mention. Here good
wine is accompanied by the pleasure of good
food and it’s possible to enjoy a quick lunch or
dinner or an aperitif “with all the trimmings”,
namely fine cured meat and cheese boards or
themed menus. The feather in the house’s cap is
obviously a wine list of innumerable Italian and
international labels, many of which available by
the glass.
Via Doria: closed Sunday and Monday morning.
Via Perugia: open Monday to Friday, 9am to
9.30pm.
