We returned to the hamlet of Boetti-Bisdonio, near Pont Canavese, on a clear July
day. We were welcomed to the farm by Trifola, the dog. Its owner, Alessandro,
was out picking raspberries, so we went to join him. As friendly as ever, he made us feel
at home among the rows of raspberry and blackcurrant bushes. We then moved on to the
hothouse, where tomatoes, leeks, potatoes, zucchini, peppers, chard, eggplant and other
vegetables were neatly planted as always. We couldn’t resist the temptation to pick and
taste a tomato directly from the plant, and were rewarded by its full, satisfying scent and
flavor. All the fruit and vegetables are grown without the use of chemicals and weed killers
and fertilized with manure from a byre nearby. At Poc Ma Bun the foodstuffs available are
safe, cultivated with respect for the environment and the consumer. They are sold in loco
and at local markets.
