GREENGROCERS
I
t’s always a pleasure to walk into this shop where the bright colors of the fruit cheer
up even the grayest day. With the invaluable assistance of Adriana, Osvaldo and Grazia
Rossin have been privileging Piedmontese and Slow Food Presidium products since 1992.
In spring and summer you can find the tenderest lettuce and crispest greens to dip into the
fine Ligurian oils and tasty wine vinegars on sale. Autumn is a triumph of the vegetables
necessary for bagna caoda: the “hunchback” cardoon of Nizza Monferrato, Caraglio garlic,
Cervere leeks and rare peppers “alla rapa” (macerated in grape stalks and pomace), all
delicacies for connoisseurs. Mushrooms and truffles come from the Langa hills, strawberries
from San Mauro Torinese, peaches from the Roero district, gray apples from Torriana and, in
July only, delicious ramassin, or damsons, from Saluzzo. If you’re in a hurry, the shop offers
a vast assortment of fruit and vegetables pre-selected and arranged in individual portions.
