ICE-CREAM PARLORS<br />

These two ice-cream parlors were opened by the Insieme cooperative to create the<br />

best professional, economic and social conditions for workers. The “+” sign stands<br />

for the fact that even ice-cream can lead to requalification on the labor market. Hence the<br />

decision to invest in top quality ice-cream, made daily in the two parlors’ open workshops<br />

according to Italian tradition, with select, certified ingredients and no additives. Apart from<br />

the cacao, pistachio and vanilla, all the other ingredients come from Piedmont through<br />

a select supply chain of agricultural consortia and cooperatives, all of which makes for<br />

wholesome and fresh ice-cream. All the classic flavors are on sale here, along with others<br />

that vary according to season and to the creativity of the makers. In winter it’s possible to<br />

taste pere della nonna (grandma’s pear) ice-cream made with martin sec pears and cin-<br />

namon, in summer persi pien, with peaches, amaretto and chocolate, or thirst-quenching<br />

peppermint. You’ll also find a good assortment of smoothies and frappès.<br />
