A Dynamic Project
The Chemical Laboratory, a special company of the Torino Chamber of com-
merce, has always played a fundamental role in the “Masters of Taste of
Torino and province” project. It is a team of the lab’s professional experts
that shortlists candidates for the recognition, connecting care and attention
to and the quality and typicality of products with food safety levels, a primary
aspect of a business’s excellence.
Both as a non-profitmaking body of the Torino Chamber of commerce and
collaborating with other Chambers of commerce in Piedmont, the Chemi-
cal Laboratory has always provided tools indispensable for compliance with
existing laws, as well as independent and impartial analysis, consultancy and
training services to consumer groups, business associations, public adminis-
trations and local bodies.
The credibility of Masters of Taste is partly due to the fact the selection crite-
ria adopted have evolved edition by edition along the road embarked upon
with the companies involved. For the first edition the Chemical Laboratory
simply analyzed the products mentioned, but now, as part of this constant
improvement and in a context of mutual trust, it has moved on to a more
systematic evaluation of food safety management.
At the selection phase, the laboratory team assesses every company with
rigorous objective criteria and chemical and physical analyses of specific
products, always assisting the “Masters” themselves on their road to
