t was in the late 1980s Maurizio Donna D’Oldenico decided that this part of
the Lanzo valley would no longer be the place where he brought his family
on holiday, but where he was going to bring up his children and grow fruit and
vegetables without recourse to pesticides and weed killers. The farm’s specialty
is its blackcurrants, certified organic. They were the first to be planted here and
now there are more than 2,000 plants of 25 varieties. They are sold fresh or
processed as juices, syrups and jams. Other fruits grown are old varieties of apples
and raspberries, also sold fresh or processed. The adjoining mill was recently
converted into holiday accommodation; it sleeps ten and welcomes the physically
challenged.
