BREWERIES<br />

Over the last few years they’ve changed the names but not the substance of their<br />

beers. We are referring to La Piazza, the interesting project which, in Via Durandi,<br />

comprises a vocational school, which trains hundreds of youngsters for the hotel and<br />

catering professions, a brewery, a chocolate workshop, a pub, a restaurant and much more<br />

besides. Bottles that used to be named after artists are now named after movements:<br />

laRomantica, a 5°kölsch, is the most quaffable of the light beers, laRinascimentale is a<br />

5.5° amber bitter ale, laRealista is a fruity 7.5° doppelbock, laSurrealista is a 5° American<br />

pale ale, amber in color with a bitter hopsy note, and laDadaista is a 5° stout fl avored with<br />

cocoa beans. Craft-made, unpasteurized and bottle-conditioned. they are all on sale in<br />

takeaway cartons, but the best place to taste them is in the pub, which has outside tables<br />

in the courtyard in the summer, or in the more formal restaurant on the fi rst fl oor, which<br />

also has a summer terrace.<br />
