In 2008 Davide and Filippo took over the historic, almost 100-year-old Medico cake
shop in which they used to work and continued to improve it still further. Petite patis-
serie is still one of their specialties, but recently their torta della regina (the “queen’s cake”,
a name chosen after a “referendum” among customers), made of pistachio-flavored short-
crust pastry, lemon cream and raspberry gelatin has also become very popular. In the wake
of their success at the “world cup” in Rimini, Davide and Filippo have added new flavors,
such as bacio vittoria chocolate and mango, to the ice-cream department. On order and
for catering services, they also make savory flavors such tomato, basil and Gorgonzola to
serve as antipasti. Their other traditional savory dishes include vitel tonné, pies, vegetable
couscous and a sumptuous Russian salad. A few months ago they extended the bar area
to make room for customers to enjoy brief but delicious meals during their lunch breaks.
