PASTRY SHOPS<br />

This cake shop came into being in the 1950s in another part of town, but Giovanni<br />

moved it to its present premises in 1983. Not that his professional philosophy, based<br />

on excellent primary ingredients and respect for tradition combined with willingness to in-<br />

novate, has ever changed. On the one hand, he always uses sourdough for his panettone,<br />

colomba and focaccia, and candies his own fruit; on the other, he enjoys inventing new<br />

shapes and unusual combinations. Here you’ll find a splendid everyday production of small<br />

cakes and biscuits, pralines, gianduiotti and all sorts of chocolates, as well as original crea-<br />

tions, such as the chocolate mole (the spire symbol of Turin) and toret (tower), personalized<br />

Easter eggs and American wedding cakes, veritable confectionery sculptures that can also<br />

made to order for other occasions. The shop’s homemade ice-creams are also excellent. A<br />

catering service is also available on request.<br />
