PASTRY SHOPS<br />

Manuel Durighello set up business 18 years ago in a small craft workshop, which he<br />

has recently expanded to create this attractive shop. As you enter you’ll be impressed<br />

by the Art Nouveau furniture and the display cabinets filled with biscuits and mignon cakes and<br />

classic and filled brioches. A treat not to be missed is the house specialty, the durighello, is com-<br />

posed of a base of biscuit, a layer of mousse coffee and one of dark chocolate ganache. A small<br />

room through from the cafeteria is devoted exclusively to chocolate in all its shapes and forms,<br />

including a vast assortment of pralines with Piedmontese hazelnuts. The excellent gianduiotti<br />

are served in elegant packaging with reproductions of black-and-white photographs of Turin.<br />

Other specialties are tarts, meringue cakes and, in the Christmas and Easter periods, naturally-<br />

leavened panettone and colomba. Recently the shop has begun to buy in fine organic, whole-<br />

grain, Kamut, rice and maize flours from select mills. Open every day from 7.30 am to 7.30 pm.<br />
