S ignora
Lidia and her husband Cesare
offer us their usual warm welcome, ex-
plaining the most interesting and lesser know
aspects of their 35 years in the beekeeping
business. They produce different qualities of
honey, moving the hives around the mountains
and the plain according to the flowering sea-
sons, always careful to seek out healthy places
well away from the traffic. The areas they travel
round are the Orco and Soana valleys for rho-
dodendron and Alpine flower honeys, Pianpra-
to for lime honey, the hills of the Canavese dis-
trict for chestnut, multifloral and acacia honey.
On the shelves of the shop it is also possible
to find honey by-products and honey-scented
creams, soaps, and oils. Also worthy of mention
is the honeydew, a dark, nourishing honey, rich
in mineral salts, which can be used in the treat-
ment of osteoporosis. The bees produce it by
processing the sticky liquid secreted by some
small insects.
The point of sale is open Thursday and Friday af-
ternoon and Saturday from 10am to 12.30pm
and from 3.30pm to 7.30 pm.
