WINE GROWERS
I
n the Caretto family farm, active since the 19th century, they are still producing
wines that mirror local tradition and terroir with great professional rigor.
Almost as a token of the family’s dogged application to their task, in 2004 father
Domenico handed over the running of the enterprise to his son Loris. The farm is
situated in San Giorgio Canavese, where the Carettos try to give their wines the
right blend of tradition and innovation to produce rich flavor without straying from
local authenticity. Their standout bottles are still Erbaluce and Erbaluce Passito,
as well as Canavese Rosso. Here wine production is backed up by cereals (old
Piedmontese corn) and honey, which is why the owners like to see their farm as an
“all-round” enterprise. By reservation is possible to visit the farm, taste the wines
and follow learning trails.
