The richest, most exuberant, appetizing,
à la page bread shop in Turin. That’s the
only way to describe the place opened by And-
rea Perino and his wife Chiara Vesco next door
to the historical building where Count Camillo
Benso used to live. Here you’ll find all sorts
of treasures: organic flours, sourdough bread,
walnut, honey and cinnamon, rye and Kamut
bread, sandwich loaves, focaccias, pizzas and
mini-pizzas, fruit loaves, cakes, tarts, cannoli,
pies and so on ad infinitum. Plus takeaway bags
of petits fours, puff pastry “fans”, savoiardi and
lingue di gatto (literally “cat’s tongues”) , both
takes on sponge fingers, dietary biscuits, semi-
sweet chocolate-flavored rolls, savory cana-
pés, and the more the merrier! At the bar, at
the end of a narrow corridor, you can taste all
the shop’s goodies, as well as a cornucopia of
other tidbits, including panini, sandwiches and
savory croissants. At the refrigerator beside the
cash register, you can round off your shopping
from an assortment of quality dairy products.
