employed etc .. constitute about 27 per cent <strong>of</strong> the sample farmers in Peechi
project, followed by 25 per cent in the Kallada command area.

The occupational status <strong>of</strong> family members is presented in table 4.10. In
,
Kallada project. 17 per Cen! <strong>of</strong> the family members are involved in farming
activities against 24 per cent in the Peechi project. While almost 16 per cent <strong>of</strong>
the family members are doing rubber tapping in the Kallada project area, about
17 per cent in the Peechi is doing agricultural labour. The table shows that family
labour involved in Peechi project is relatively high. For instance. 24 per cent <strong>of</strong>
the members are involved in farming operations and another 17 per cent work as
agricultural labourers. 1 n Kall ada project, it is only 13 per cent.
