The proportion <strong>of</strong> ayacut area converted for non-agricultural uses across the
command areas ranged between II per cent in the Neyyar project to 24.73 per cent
ill the Karapuzha scheme.
Anoth.:r study by C AD.\ based on a sample survey <strong>of</strong> 255 farmers in the

completed irrigation proiects in the state reveals that 19 per cent <strong>of</strong> the farmers
have converted their paddy fIelds permanently. The proportion <strong>of</strong> area converted is

to have converted their paddy fields and the area converted is 44 per cent. In the
