Gen.38:28 And it came to pass, when she travailed, that the one put out his hand: and the midwife<br />

took and bound upon his hand a scarlet thread, saying, This came out first.<br />

Gen.38:29 And it came to pass, as he drew back his hand, that, behold, his brother came out: and she<br />

said, How hast thou broken forth? this breach be upon thee: therefore his name was called<br />

Pharez.<br />

Gen.38:30 And afterward came out his brother, that had the scarlet thread upon his hand: and his<br />

name was called Zarah.<br />

Gen.39:1 And Joseph was brought down to Egypt; and Potiphar, an officer of Pharaoh, captain of the<br />

guard, an Egyptian, bought him of the hands of the Ishmaelites, which had brought him<br />

down thither.<br />

Gen.39:2 And the LORD was with Joseph, and he was a prosperous man; and he was in the house<br />

of his master the Egyptian.<br />

kai hn kurioV meta iwshf kai hn anhr epitugcanwn kai egeneto en tw oikw para tw kuriw tw<br />

aiguptiw<br />

Gen.39:3 And his master saw that the LORD was with him, and that the LORD made all that he did<br />

to prosper in his hand.<br />

hdei de o kurioV autou oti kurioV met' autou kai osa an poih kurioV euodoi en taiV cersin autou<br />

Gen.39:4 And Joseph found grace in his sight, and he served him: and he made him overseer over<br />

his house, and all that he had he put into his hand.<br />

kai euren iwshf carin enantion tou kuriou autou euhrestei de autw kai katesthsen auton epi tou<br />

oikou autou kai panta osa hn autw edwken dia ceiroV iwshf<br />

Gen.39:5 And it came to pass from the time that he had made him overseer in his house, and over<br />

all that he had, that the LORD blessed the Egyptian's house for Joseph's sake; and the<br />

blessing of the LORD was upon all that he had in the house, and in the field.<br />

Gen.39:6 And he left all that he had in Joseph's hand; and he knew not ought he had, save the bread<br />

which he did eat. And Joseph was a goodly person, and well favored.<br />

kai epetreyen panta osa hn autw eiV ceiraV iwshf kai ouk hdei twn kaq' eauton ouden plhn tou<br />

artou ou hsqien autoV kai hn iwshf kaloV tw eidei kai wraioV th oyei sfodra<br />

Gen.39:7 And it came to pass after these things, that his master's wife cast her eyes upon Joseph;<br />

and she said, Lie with me.<br />

kai egeneto meta ta rhmata tauta kai epebalen h gunh tou kuriou autou touV ofqalmouV authV epi<br />

iwshf kai eipen koimhqhti met' emou<br />

Gen.39:8 But he refused, and said unto his master's wife, Behold, my master wotteth not what is with<br />

me in the house, and he hath committed all that he hath to my hand;<br />

o de ouk hqelen eipen de th gunaiki tou kuriou autou ei o kurioV mou ou ginwskei di' eme ouden en<br />

tw oikw autou kai panta osa estin autw edwken eiV taV ceiraV mou<br />

Gen.39:9 There is none greater in this house than I; neither hath he kept back any thing from me but<br />

thee, because thou art his wife: how then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against<br />

God?<br />
