Each process system valve shall be provided with a stamped metal tag secured to the valve. This tag shall indicate the well location, valve number, service, and function of each valve. B. Tags shall be stamped brass 1½-inch diameter with finished edges, and secured to valves by heavy copper figure eight hooks, braided stainless steel wire anchor, or other approved means. 2.2 PIPE MARKERS A. Color and Lettering: Conform to ASME A13.1. B. Plastic Tape Pipe Markers: 1. Manufacturers: a. Mifab Manufacturing. b. Almetek Industries c. Brimar Industries, Inc. d. Substitutions: Permitted with Engineer’s approval. 2. Flexible, vinyl film tape with pressure sensitive adhesive backing and printed markings. C. Plastic Underground Pipe Markers: 1. Bright colored continuously printed detectable plastic ribbon tape, minimum 6 inches wide by 4 mil thick, manufactured for direct burial service. PART 3 EXECUTION 3.1 PREPARATION A. Degrease and clean surfaces to receive adhesive for identification materials. 3.2 INSTALLATION A. Install identifying devices after completion of coverings and painting. B. Install labels with sufficient adhesive for permanent adhesion and seal with clear lacquer. For unfinished canvas covering, apply paint primer before applying labels. C. Install underground plastic pipe markers 6 to 8 inches below finished grade, directly above buried pipe. D. Identify piping, concealed or exposed, with plastic tape pipe markers. Use tags on piping 3/4 inch diameter and smaller. Identify service and flow direction. Install in clear view and align with axis of piping.
