16.11.1 Frame Length<br />

The transmitter can generate either 10-bit or 11-bit frames. In SCICR1,<br />

the M bit selects frame length, and the PE bit enables the parity function.<br />

One data bit may be an address mark or an extra stop bit. All frames<br />

begin with a start bit and end with one or two stop bits. When transmitting<br />

9-bit data, bit T8 in SCI data register high (SCIDRH) is the ninth bit<br />

(bit 8).<br />

1. When implementing a multidrop network using the SCI, the address mark bit is used to<br />

designate subsequent data frames as a network address and not device data.<br />
