OKO Bank Group has published a GRI-based sustainability<br />

report since 2003. The report mainly covers the whole Group,<br />

but some sustainability data are based on samples collected<br />

from the units. It also contains a description <strong>of</strong> corporate<br />

responsibility principles and related management activities.<br />

The report does not include external assurance and it is mainly<br />

directed at external communication for stakeholders. No<br />

Group-wide quantifiable targets for corporate level<br />

performance measurement have been established.<br />

Orion (Health Orion issued their first sustainability report in 2005 following<br />

Care) the principles laid out in the GRI guidelines. The report focuses<br />

on external communication, but covers some sustainability<br />

performance data. In 2006 the report was included in summary<br />

form in the company’s annual report. Furthermore, the<br />

company published a short environmental review. No Groupwide<br />

quantifiable targets were established and no external<br />

assurance was provided.<br />

Outokumpu<br />

(Materials)<br />

Outokumpu has issued a GRI-based report since 2004. The<br />

report focuses on environmental responsibility issues. There<br />

was a lot <strong>of</strong> discussion about objectives and some quantifiable<br />

sustainability targets have been established for Group-wide<br />

performance indicators, such as the lost time injuries<br />

frequency. Environmental performance targets are mainly set<br />

by business units. The report focuses on external<br />

communication and does not include external assurance.<br />

Raisio Group The Raisio Group has published a GRI-based report since<br />

(Consumer 2004. The report contains several key sustainability<br />

Staples) performance indicators. Targets are mainly presented as<br />

qualitative measures and in a form <strong>of</strong> examples. The report is<br />

focused towards external communication and annual reporting.<br />

No evidence <strong>of</strong> its use for performance management purposes<br />

is presented. As the report 2006 states “annual reporting will<br />

be expanded on in parallel with the development <strong>of</strong> indicators<br />

and reporting systems.” The report does not contain external<br />

assurance.<br />

Ruukki<br />

(Materials)<br />

Ruukki has published a GRI-based responsibility report in<br />

2000, 2003, 2005 and 2006 and updates for reports in 2002 and<br />

2004. Group-wide targets have been established for safety and<br />

environmental performance. However, only a few <strong>of</strong> them are<br />

expressed as quantifiable performance indicators. The main<br />

purpose <strong>of</strong> the report is to provide regular information on the<br />

company’s corporate responsibility to external stakeholders.<br />
