Agricultural Practices – Environment Quality<br />

The sustainability criterion “environment quality” includes soil, water and air quality<br />

and is influenced by agricultural practices as machinery work, fuel combustion,<br />

fertilisers and pesticides application (see figure 8).<br />

Air quality is related to emissions <strong>of</strong> CO, NOx, SO289, metal, PM90, NMVOC,<br />

PAH 91 , and Benzene, themselves depending on agricultural practices. Some<br />

practices increase these emissions (for example, use <strong>of</strong> fertilisers), some decrease<br />

them, and some other practices increase some emissions and decrease others.<br />
