2. The Labovian tradition. Post-labovian social network studies.<br />

3. Other approaches: The Ethnography of communication. Interactional sociolinguistics.<br />

4. Patterns of language choice. Diglossia. Co<strong>de</strong>-switching. The allocation and the interpretative paradigms.<br />

5. Mo<strong>de</strong>ls of co<strong>de</strong>-switching.<br />

6. Some analyses of co<strong>de</strong>-switching in publicity and language pedagogy.<br />

7. The globalisation of the English language: the spread of English, linguistic policies. CLIL.<br />

EVALUATION<br />

A test (50%). Summaries of the set readings (30%) and an essay on three of them (20%).<br />
