The trouble with physics: the rise of string theory, the
fall of science and what comes next / Lee Smolin. -
ART. UNENDLICHKEITEN. ÄQIVAL.
STRINGTHEORIE. SOZIO.
Materiedichten dar (S. 5): "At the point at which the
density becomes infinite, the equations of general relativity
break down. Some people interpret this as time
stopping, but a more sober view is that the theory is
just inadequate."
(S. 40): "Einstein recalled realizing that a person falling
from the roof of a building would feel no effects of
gravity as he fell. He called this "the most fortunate
thought of my life," and he made it into a principle,
which he called the 'principle of equivalence'. It says
that the effects of acceleration are indistinguishable
from the effects of gravity [Fußnote 2]. - So Einstein
succeeded in unifying all kinds of motion. Uniform
motion is indistinguishable from rest. And acceleration
is no different from being at rest but with a gravitational
field turned on. - The unification of acceleration with
gravity was a unification with great consequences. ..."
is a caveat, which is that this applies only to observations
that take place in small regions of place over small intervals
of time. If you fall far enough to see that the strength of
the gravitational field changes, you can distinguish
gravity from acceleration."
Autor dann doch zugeben muß: "you can distinguish
gravity from acceleration."
SRT. CMBR. COBE.
S. L1, Abstract, Auszug: "The dipole anisotropy, attributed
to the motion of our solar system with respect to
the CMB reference frame, shows strongly in all six sky
maps and is consistent with a Doppler-shifted thermal
spectrum. The best fitted dipole has amplitude 3.3 +-
0,2 mK in the direction [...] There is no clear evidence
in the maps for any other large angular scale features.
[...] All limits are given at the 95% confidence level
and reflect currently estimated limits on systematic
effects. These measurements place the most severe
constraints to date on many potential physical processis
in the early universe, such as anisotropic expansion of
the universe, very long wavelenght gravitational waves,
cosmic strings, and large-scale primordial fluctuations."
S. L4: "The large-scale geometry of the universe is
well described by a Robertson-Walker metric from the
surface of last scattering to the present. While the limit
is very model dependent, we can conclude that the
universe is rotating less than 3 x 10^-24 rad s^-1 , or
less than 1/10000 of a turn in the last 10 billion years
