elativity theory cannot prevent exceeding light velocity."
"Introduction . - Let there be two inertial mass
points A and B mutually at rest. According to Special
relativity theory [1] if for example B is accelerated in a
straight line, and after acceleration there is some mutual
constant velocity under that of light, B has for the
rest observer A, larger relativistic mass than the rest
mass it had before. If the velocity value of B with
respect to A is approaching light velocity, the relativistic
mass of B for the rest observer of A is according to the
theory increasing above any limit. Therefore according
to the theory, no force can accelerate B for the rest
observer of A over the velocity of light. So after the
acceleration, according to the theory, for the rest observer
of A, B cannot move with respect to A with a constant
velocity greater than that of light.
Consideration - Now assume, not B, but A is accelerated.
According to the theory, the rest observer of A,
calculates its mass after acceleration is equal to its
original rest mass. The mass of A, for the rest observer
of A, had to remain constant during the acceleration of
A. But if the mass of A, for the rest observer of it
remains constant during its acceleration, then using, for
example, a constant force for the acceleration of A, the
velocity of A with respect to B, for the rest observer of
A can exceed light velocity. So after this acceleration,
according to the theory, for the rest observer of A, A
can move with respect to B, respectively B can move
with respect to A with the constant straight lined velocity
greater than that of light."
Unveränderter Text der Aufl. 1926, mit neuem Vorwort.
SRT. MMV-POS. DC-MILLER.
Bietet in Kapitel 6 (S. 143-166): "The special theory of
zu verkünden (S.VII): "The chapter on
recent advances, added in 1926 to bring the translated
edition up to date, serves now but to illustrate the evanescence
that is the lot of so much of science in the making.
Of particular historical interest is the account there of
the ether-drift experiments of D. C. Miller, the validity
of which is now generally doubted, and the brief comment
on the experiments by Einstein that is somehow
nostalgically revealing of Einstein himself." Immerhin
Albert Einsteins Stellungnahme (S. 185-189) bietet folgende
