In praise of the physics underground: a school for
SRT. SOZIO. DISSIDENTEN. INTERNET.
Auszug: "I have had occasion to examine the written
works in the field of physics of a number of authors on
the Internet. The variety of ideas and theories presented
covers a wide range. The works I wish to discuss have a
common thread. They concern theories that are regarded
as unpopular in the mainstream physics journals and
media, or lead to conclusions that run counter to generally
accepted wisdom.
I do not wish to analyze the relative merits of the
panoply of theories and ideas, but rather to encourage,
with reservations, those who would seek out this channel
for the dissemination of their ideas, even though they
may be unpopular. I also avoid the stereotyped and
inaccurate generalization that dismisses all their work
as rubbish.
One gets the impression of an active, challenging,
questioning and questing group of minds. They have
the approach that keeps many mental threads active
simultaneously. Their focus at any one time does not
extinguish other possible connections. This approach
has the disadvantage in some cases of slow progress,
but in others, there is the advantage of an overview that
is wide and adventurous. Many threads are interdisciplinary.
(...)
Even worse would be to leave it up to governments,
who, perhaps because of the presumed universality of
scientific laws, may see a challenge to their absolute
authority. The way governments have re-designed school
curricula is an example of their methods. Many of these
underground malcontents received their first bitter taste
of the new science at school. They were given the giftwrapped
version, shown through the wonders of physics
like tourists on a bus. The accepted view is that the
students are there to get the most from their brief visit,
not to ask embarrassing questions of the tour guide.
That would spoil it for everyone else. The learners are
supposed to gaze in awe at this dazzling new product
and learn the equations in the textbooks that are now
product icons in themselves (E = mc²)® . This is candy
store science."
Ghosts in the machine of relativity [Part 1]: relativism,
relativity and dangers of thought experiments [datiert:
SRT. GEDEX. MATH. RELATIVISMUS.
"Abstract. - The nature and characteristics of thought
experiments that are based on mathematics, logic and
idealized notions of physical principles are discussed
and shown to be prone to self-referent circularity and
self refutation similar to Relativism's burden. It is argued
that modern mathematical physics has relied on the
mathematical aspect of the thought experiment and a
dogmatic attachment to an inappropriate idealism to
such a degree that it prevents the achievement of a
sufficiently scientific and logical interpretation of experiment.
Relativism and Relativity
The so-called scientific principle of relativity has done
much to support the philosophy of relativism, forming
what some would argue is solid scientific evidence for
its major premise. In particular, Einstein's version of
relativity can be seen as lending vital scientific support
to Relativism, which goes far deeper than indicated by
the similarity in their names. In fact the statements of
them can be made indistinguishable by generalization.
While it may appear from recent scholarly historical
works based on archival material that general relativity
is considered to be the jewel in the crown of Einstein's
theory of relativity, the foundational epistemological
questions seen by Einstein in Lorentz's theory certainly
influenced the development of general relativity.
Although I believe that Einstein should not and cannot
be held immune to personal criticism, I do not believe
that he held to the philosophy of Relativism. (...)
Thought experiments and mathematical physics
The "thought experiment" may be invalid simply
because its presumed three reference points (thought,
experiment and mathematics) are all versions of thought
if the experiment is allowed to omit essential details of
interactions. This remains true even if it is based on
