Chapter 4 – Boat Units and Boat Types<br />

A.2. Elements<br />

The elements of a boat unit shall include, but are not limited to the<br />

following:<br />

(01) Multi-mission shore facility.<br />

a) Duty crew berthing.<br />

b) Vessel moorings and maintenance.<br />

(02) Multi-mission afloat unit (Cutter only).<br />

(03) Operate boats in support of designated missions.<br />

(04) Authorized boat and personnel allowances. Auxiliary-Operated<br />

Station (small) may or may not have boats or personnel assigned.<br />

(05) Boat unit administration.<br />

(06) Provide unit-level training and equipment maintenance.<br />

(07) Responsible for their own internal supervision.<br />

(08) Receive support and services from Commandant, Area, District<br />

office, Sector, Base, Integrated Support Command, or other host<br />

command.<br />

A.2.a. Reserve<br />

Augmented Unit<br />

A.2.b. Parent<br />

Station<br />

A Reserve augmented unit is a unit that relies on reserve personnel for at<br />

least one third of its primary duty section staffing for three or more<br />

months per year.<br />

A Parent Station is a unit with one or more subordinate Stations (small).<br />

Its Command Cadre allowance may be different from that of a typical<br />

unit to account for the increased responsibility associated with the<br />

assignment of subordinate Stations (small).<br />
