Section E. Station Watch Organization<br />

Introduction<br />

Stations are required to maintain duty sections to provide an immediate<br />

boat response capability (i.e., B-0) for search and rescue, or other<br />

mission areas as required by the District Commander.<br />

E.1. Duty Sectio n Maintaining the integrity of the duty section must be the primary focus of<br />

all Station personnel. Station Commanders shall organize duty sections<br />

to:<br />

(01) Ensure successful execution of assigned missions.<br />

(02) Protect the integrity of response boat duty crews.<br />

(03) Minimize the unproductive time members spend on the Station,<br />

for work life and crew rest considerations.<br />

E.1.a. Duty<br />

Rotation<br />

The CO’s/OIC’s choice of Station watch/duty section rotation is a critical<br />

decision. The Station’s duty rotation will:<br />

(01) Define the minimum requirement for <strong>Coast</strong> <strong>Guard</strong> boat response<br />

in the Station’s AOR.<br />

(02)<br />

Be the primary workweek driver for the Station.<br />

(03) Define the amount and nature of the time available for Station<br />

training/work/mission requirements.<br />

E.1.b. Tasking<br />

Tasking for duty crews and other members of the duty section should be<br />

restricted to proficiency training, routine/minor boat and facility<br />

maintenance, or housekeeping and operations. Duty standers should not<br />

be assigned management or administrative duties or responsibilities<br />

beyond those required in support of duty section operations.<br />
