Chapter 1 -- Introduction<br />

Standardization<br />

Team<br />

Standardization Teams (BFCO/NMLBS/NATON) shall:<br />

(01) Provide field units with technical information and guidance that<br />

will assist them in complying with program responsibilities.<br />

(02) Disseminate to the field new standard procedures and techniques<br />

used and/or problem areas regarding procedures and techniques<br />

employed by boat crews.<br />

(03) Provide information that would assist units in meeting<br />

standardization program requirements.<br />

Maintain liaison with Commandant (CG-731) and Commandant<br />

(CG-751) to ensure that Readiness and Standardization Program<br />

requirements are being met.<br />

Coordinate with Commandant (CG-731) to make appropriate<br />

changes to training syllabi, courses, or manuals when deficiencies<br />

are noted during assessment visits.<br />

As members of the <strong>Coast</strong> <strong>Guard</strong>’s Boat Centers of Excellence<br />

(BFCO/NMLBS/NATON), assist in maintaining the boat<br />

operator’s handbooks for the appropriate boat class. Propose<br />

interim changes to Commandant (CG-731) as needed and<br />

produce updates to the operator’s handbooks at least annually.<br />

Recommend to Commandant (CG-731) additions or deletions to<br />

boat outfit equipment or stowage plans that would enhance<br />

operational efficiency and/or<br />

safety.<br />

(08) Based on field observations and platform expertise, provide<br />

recommendations to Commandant (CG-731), (CG-45), SFLC and<br />

the MLCs that would increase machinery reliability and<br />

maintainability.<br />

(09) Recommend performance requirements for boat crew positions<br />

that would enhance proficiency and safety.<br />

(10) When directed by SFLC, conduct prototype evaluations to<br />

determine the feasibility of a recommended TCTO. Review<br />

proposed configuration changes and provide recommendations<br />

for location and installation of new equipment.<br />

(11) At the direction of Commandant (CG-731), conduct biennial<br />

Readiness and Standardization Assessments at each shore unit<br />

with standard boat allowance(s). Cutterboat Readiness and<br />

Standardization Assessments will be scheduled through the Area.<br />
