E.6.a. Oral Board<br />

Interview<br />

The board interview should include questions which will evaluate the<br />

prospective boat crewmember in terms of:<br />

(01) Leadership ability.<br />

(02) Judgment.<br />

(03) Maturity.<br />

(04) Knowledge of team coordination and risk assessment standards<br />

and concepts.<br />

Knowledge of the environmental conditions of the local area should be<br />

emphasized.<br />

The BCEB should question the trainee about:<br />

(01) Local weather.<br />

(02) Navigation.<br />

(03) Tides.<br />

(04) Currents.<br />

(05) Any particularly hazardous conditions that exist.<br />

Recommending<br />

Certification<br />

Once a candidate has completed the check-ride and oral board interview,<br />

the Chairman of the BCEB shall document the results in the E-Training<br />

System. If the candidate is not recommended, the board must state why<br />

and what areas of performance were not acceptable. Also, the report<br />

shall include specific recommendations for increased training and/or<br />

practical experience.<br />
