Chapter 2 – Station (small) Standard Operating Procedures<br />

A.3. Readiness Stations (small) have mission readiness response standards based upon:<br />

Commandant standards; appropriate key local factors such as mission<br />

demands of:<br />

(01) SAR<br />

(02) ELT<br />

(03) PWCS<br />

(04) Marine Environmental Response (MER)<br />

(05) RBS mission demand<br />

(06) Local environmental factors<br />

Additionally, the SAR readiness response standard reflects the following:<br />

(01) Availability of other <strong>Coast</strong> <strong>Guard</strong> forces in their locality<br />

(02) Stations adjacent to or nearby to Station (small) can be the<br />

primary means to provide a SAR response capability within a<br />

Sector’s AOR.<br />

(03) Stations (small) are operated on a seasonal basis only and some<br />

may operate on weekends only. Stations (small) should not be<br />

operated year-round.<br />

(04) The Commandant’s standard of a 68-hour workweek for duty<br />

standers at alert shore Stations.<br />

Close coordination with Commandant (DCO) and Commandant (CG-<br />

092) is required to ensure prompt documentation of resource issues and<br />

coordinated public/congressional notifications.<br />
