Chapter 6 – Rescue & Survival Systems Evaluation<br />

Section B. Procedures<br />

Introduction Ready for Operations and Readiness and Standardization evaluations<br />

shall conduct the following evaluations.<br />

B.1.<br />

Documentation<br />

Assessment teams will review the unit’s AF Form 538 log documenting<br />

issuance and annual inventories of basic and cold weather PPE to<br />

individuals. Compliance with inventory control procedures will also be<br />

evaluated. Inspecting personnel shall determine if the unit in “in<br />

compliance” or “not in compliance” with established requirements.<br />

Additionally, assessment teams shall determine that commands issuing<br />

PPE waivers are complying with the provisions of Reference (f).<br />

(01) Docum entation errors exist if there is failure to document a<br />

required item, improper documentation, or missing<br />

documentation.<br />

B.2. Issuance<br />

Assessment teams will compare AF Form 538 documentation with actual<br />

on-hand inventories verifying issuance of PPE with pertinent directives.<br />

Inspecting personnel shall determine if the unit is “in compliance” or<br />

“not in compliance” with established requirements.<br />

Issuance errors exist if there is a failure to issue PPE or PPE that does not<br />

meet configuration specifications/salient characteristics.<br />

B.3. PMS<br />

Maintenance logs will be reviewed for documentation and compliance<br />

with maintenance procedure requirements and frequency as required by<br />

Reference (f). Inspecting personnel shall determine if the unit is “in<br />

compliance” or “not in compliance” with established requirements.<br />

PMS errors exist if there is improper build-up, acceptance, or periodic<br />

maintenance of an item.<br />

B.4. Materiel<br />

Condition<br />

R&S and PPE will be inspected to ensure satisfactory materiel condition,<br />

compliance with PMS requirements, and the overall adequacy of the<br />

PMS program. Inspecting personnel shall determine if the unit is “in<br />

compliance” or “not in compliance” with established requirements.<br />

Materiel condition errors exist if any required item is missing, broken,<br />

expired, or any condition that will prohibit operation of a required item.<br />
