Maintenance
Applicability
Command Cadre must complete the semi-annual/annual currency
maintenance requirements in this Manual Part 4, Chapter 6, and
maintain certification while assigned to the unit.
Except for medical situations of a temporary nature, a Command Cadre
member unable or unwilling to attain certification or maintain currency
shall normally be relieved for cause. Medical situations of a temporary
nature are defined as conditions that preclude a member from boat
operations for a period of not more than 12 months.

Crew Duties
NOTE
Boat Forces units are classified based on assigned mission activities.
Unit Personnel Allowance Lists are assigned billet titles and
competencies to ensure members possess the required skills and
knowledge for the assigned mission activities. Whenever personnel,
after a reasonable amount of time, are unable to meet the competencies
req uired of their billet, administrative action should be taken in
accordance with Reference (ccc).
A guideline for “reasonable amount of time to certify” is the average amount of time
for previously uncertified unit Coxswains to certify.
