Maintenance<br />

Applicability<br />

Command Cadre must complete the semi-annual/annual currency<br />

maintenance requirements in this Manual Part 4, Chapter 6, and<br />

maintain certification while assigned to the unit.<br />

Except for medical situations of a temporary nature, a Command Cadre<br />

member unable or unwilling to attain certification or maintain currency<br />

shall normally be relieved for cause. Medical situations of a temporary<br />

nature are defined as conditions that preclude a member from boat<br />

operations for a period of not more than 12 months.<br />

NOTE<br />

Boat Forces units are classified based on assigned mission activities.<br />

Unit Personnel Allowance Lists are assigned billet titles and<br />

competencies to ensure members possess the required skills and<br />

knowledge for the assigned mission activities. Whenever personnel,<br />

after a reasonable amount of time, are unable to meet the competencies<br />

req uired of their billet, administrative action should be taken in<br />

accordance with Reference (ccc).<br />

A guideline for “reasonable amount of time to certify” is the average amount of time<br />

for previously uncertified unit Coxswains to certify.<br />
