Chapter 2 – Mission Planning<br />

H.2.a.<br />

Types of Support<br />

Mission support may be provided as follows:<br />

(01) Duty Section:<br />

a) Per Reference (d), <strong>Coast</strong> <strong>Guard</strong> Auxiliary personnel may serve in<br />

every unit duty section position, except those requiring the<br />

exercise of general law enforcement powers or direct command<br />

authority (e.g. Officer of the Day) provided they meet the same<br />

qualification and certification requirements specified for <strong>Coast</strong><br />

<strong>Guard</strong> Active Duty and Reserve personnel. These roles may<br />

include, but are not limited to, Communications Watch Stander<br />

and Assistant/Junior Officer of the Day.<br />

(02) Boat Crew:<br />

a) <strong>Coast</strong> <strong>Guard</strong> Auxiliary personnel may serve in every boat crew<br />

position, except those requiring the exercise of general law<br />

enforcement powers or direct command authority.<br />

b) Auxiliary members are prohibited from being Coxswains on <strong>Coast</strong><br />

<strong>Guard</strong> owned boats unless the boat is designated as an Auxiliary<br />

facility.<br />

H.3. Certification Auxiliarists serving as Boat Crew Members and Coxswains on Auxiliary<br />

facilities shall certify in accordance with References (c), (d), (z), (aa),<br />

(bb), and (cc).<br />

When serving as a Boat Crew Member or Engineer on CG operational<br />

platforms the Auxiliarists must certify in accordance with this Manual<br />

and Reference (cc).<br />
