Leave/Liberty<br />

Policy<br />

Leave, liberty, or termination of orders may be granted to <strong>Coast</strong> <strong>Guard</strong><br />

military personnel if buildings, work areas, or transportation systems to<br />

and from commands pose hazards to personnel. Each CO/OIC shall<br />

determine policy regarding duty in this event, depending on personnel<br />

requirements and the conditions that exist. Personnel shall:<br />

(01) Contact their command before assuming or departing on leave or<br />

liberty status.<br />

(02) Not place themselves in danger by transiting areas that are<br />

inaccessible and potentially dangerous.<br />

(03) Report to their units as required and when conditions allow.<br />

(04) Make every reasonable attempt, including phones, fax, and e-<br />

mail, to contact their duty unit for possible recall and personnel<br />

accountability.<br />

(05) If unable to contact assigned duty units, contact the District Crisis<br />

Action Center (CAC).<br />

(06) If unable to contact the District CAC, report to the nearest <strong>Coast</strong><br />

<strong>Guard</strong> command or other military command if no <strong>Coast</strong> <strong>Guard</strong><br />

command is accessible.<br />

F.6. Natural<br />

Disaster Effects<br />

Simultaneous with, or subsequent to, the occurrence of a disaster, some<br />

or all of the following effects will exist:<br />

(01) Fire – resulting from explosion, etc.<br />

(02) Water – resulting from flood, rain, or tsunami.<br />

(03) Pollution – resulting from spills of petroleum products and<br />

hazardous chemicals.<br />

(04) Interference or harassment from civil disobedience groups and<br />

law violators.<br />
