D.7.b.<br />

Communications<br />

Petty Officer<br />

Responsibilities<br />

The duties and responsibilities of the Communications Officer shall<br />

include the following:<br />

(01) Provide communications services as required.<br />

(02) Supervise the communications watch and handling of message<br />

traffic.<br />

(03) Administer communications procedures and training.<br />

(04) Provide control of classified material and cryptographic devices.<br />

(05) Provide control of communications equipment including portable<br />

radios.<br />

D.7.c. Navigation<br />

Petty Officer<br />

The duties and responsibilities of the Navigation Petty Officer shall<br />

include the following:<br />

(01) Provide charts, publications, navigation equipment, and records.<br />

(02) Maintain a list with the names of local and charted geographic<br />

points in the unit’s Area of Responsibility (AOR).<br />

D.7.d Rescue and<br />

Survival Systems<br />

Petty Officer<br />

The unit OIC shall appoint in writing a Petty Officer to manage the Aids<br />

to Navigation Team’s rescue and survival equipment. This individual<br />

shall:<br />

(01) Be a BM2/E-5 or above.<br />

(02) Be familiar with Reference (f).<br />

(03) Administer and coordinate the preventive/planned maintenance<br />

system (PMS) requirements through the appropriate departments.<br />

(04) Issue protective clothing and equipment (organizational clothing)<br />

and account for same using Personal Clothing and Equipment<br />

Form (AF Form 538).<br />

(05) Provide initial training to personnel during equipment issue.<br />
