Section B. Responsibilities<br />

Introduction This secti on assigns the responsibilities for management of the Boat<br />

Readiness and Standardization Program to various entities within the<br />

U.S. <strong>Coast</strong> <strong>Guard</strong>.<br />

Commandant<br />

(CG-731)<br />

(CG-45)<br />

Commandant (CG-731) shall:<br />

(01) Manage and oversee the continuity and effectiveness of the<br />

Readiness and Standardization<br />

Program.<br />

(02) Establish materiel and boat crew evaluation standards and<br />

guidelines.<br />

(03) Oversee resident boat crew training programs.<br />

(04) Ensure funding necessary to maintain the Readiness and<br />

Standardization Assessment visit program.<br />

(05) Review Readiness and Standardization Assessment visit<br />

schedules.<br />

(06) Periodically provide observers to accompany the STAN Team<br />

during assessment visits.<br />

(07) Consult with other headquarters program managers to ensure<br />

standards are developed to improve procedures, uniformity, and<br />

reduce sources of variation.<br />

(08) Coordinate and sponsor an annual Readiness and Standardization<br />

Conference.<br />

(09) Review and publish annual assessments and other statistics<br />

provided by the STAN Teams.<br />

(10) Chair configuration control boards (CCBs) for standard boats and<br />

meet regularly.<br />

(11) Provide final Sumner I Kimball award approval.<br />

Commandant (CG-45) shall:<br />

(01) Promulgate the PMS for standard boats.<br />

(02) Review Boat Class Maintenance Plans for standard boats.<br />

(03) Review materiel standards, discrepancy classifications, and<br />

STAN Team assessment criteria for standard boats.<br />

(04) Continuously monitor standard boat fleet materiel condition.<br />

(05) Periodically provide observers to accompany the STAN Team<br />

during assessment visits.<br />
