E.8.c. Ice Rescuer<br />

Certification<br />

Requirements<br />

The CO/OIC of the unit has the authority and responsibility to certify<br />

unit personnel as ice rescuers. By doing so the CO/OIC is verifying the<br />

individual’s professional expertise and authorizing the individual to<br />

conduct ice rescue.<br />

The CO/OIC has the authority to revoke the ice rescuer certification of<br />

an individual attached to the unit. This action shall be formally<br />

documented and a copy filed in the members training record.<br />

The trainee must satisfactorily complete the applicable qualification tasks<br />

including all type requirements for which the trainee is being certified.<br />

The trainee shall demonstrate proficiency during a comprehensive<br />

practical exercise.<br />

Successfully complete an oral examination.<br />

Every ice rescuer must be certified in writing by the unit commander.<br />

E.8.d. Unit<br />

Commander’s<br />

Certification<br />

The CO/OIC must be certified in writing by the Sector Commander.<br />

They have one (1) year to certify after reporting to the unit.<br />
