Section E.<br />

Boat Crew Examination Board (BCEB)<br />

Introduction The Boat Crew Examination Board (BCEB) is comprised of certified<br />

boat crewmembers,<br />

consisting of experienced Boat Crew Members,<br />

Engineers, and Coxswains selected by the unit Commander and<br />

organized as applicable to examine and evaluate boat crew candidates.<br />

The BCEB is designated in writing. The primary function of the BCEB<br />

is to recom mend personnel for certification to boat crew positions. The<br />

board is responsible for the administration of comprehensive check-rides<br />

and personal interviews. A unit BCEB serves as the quality control<br />

source for unit boat crews.<br />

The BCEB shall be designated within the E-Training System.<br />

The BCEB should consist of at least:<br />

(01) One experienced Engineer.<br />

(02) One experienced Coxswain.<br />

(03) If applicable, one experienced ATON, Tactical, Pursuit, Heavy<br />

Weather Coxswain or Surfman.<br />

(04) If applicable, senior Law Enforcement Instructor (LEI).<br />

The size of the unit, as well as the number of personnel requiring<br />

certification, determines the size of board membership.<br />

the Board<br />

Members selected should be members of the unit representing different<br />

boat crew skills and positions found at the unit. Unit Commanders<br />

should monitor the performance of board members. For continuity, those<br />

members demonstrating superior performance should be continued on<br />

the board.<br />

The CO/OIC will designate the Chairman of the Board, normally the<br />

XO/XPO.<br />
