Chapter 6 – Boat Force Operations Insignia Criteria<br />

B.4. Prior Personnel who met all of the following criteria prior to 1 September 2002<br />

Qualification are entitled to wear the gold- and pewter-tone insignia:<br />

Criteria<br />

(01) Five years of cumulative service at Boat Force field units as<br />

defined in this Manual Part 2, Chapter 6, Section A of this<br />

Manual, Pewter-Tone Insignia, paragraph A.1.<br />

(02) For three of the five years, members must have filled one of the<br />

following positions at a Boat Forces shore unit:<br />

a) Qualified Sector Operations Center Watch.<br />

b) Assistant and/or Operations Officer.<br />

c) EO/EPO.<br />

d) XO/XPO.<br />

e)<br />

CO/OIC.<br />

(03) Two of the five years of qualifying service as an active member<br />

of a unit’s Ready for Operations program or a Readiness and<br />

Standardization Team member. This includes legacy units such<br />

as District/Sector staff or COEs in which members performed<br />

duties directly related to the Ready for Operations Program or<br />

the Readiness and Standardization Program.<br />

The CO shall evaluate the member’s record to ensure this requirement<br />

has been met.<br />

Manner of Wear<br />

Command responsibilities include:<br />

(01) Attain favorable recommendation from the member’s<br />

command.<br />

(02) Ensure all requirements have been met. The completion of all<br />

qualifications must be documented in TMT. For personnel<br />

completing the required qualifications under TDY orders the unit<br />

providing the training must also provide the input documentation.<br />

(03) Document issuance with an Administrative Remarks Form CG-<br />

3307.<br />

(04) Issue Boat Force Operations Insignia Certificate. See<br />

Commandant (CG-731) web site, Boat Force Operations Insignia<br />

Certificate (Advanced), Form CG 5067.<br />

The gold- and pewter-tone insignia may be worn in conjunction with the<br />

Coxswain, Surfman, or Cutterman insignia.<br />

The gold- and pewter-tone insignia shall not be worn with the pewtertone<br />

Boat Force Operations insignia.<br />
